Wallows - Model & More Tour

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing Wallows for the first time over at my favorite venue, the Armory. The things that stood out to me about this band were their talent, friendship, and their down to earth actions. An act that took me by surprise was them walking through the crowd while performing. Dylan spent 3 minutes singing as he made his way to the B stage while moving through the general admission section. One of the other members did the same after their segment to walk back to the main stage. While I’ve seen artist participation like this, I have never seen an artist walk directly into the middle of a crowd during a concert. I also found the B-stage unique for a venue of this size, as this is a feature only occasionally found in large centers or stadiums. The stage was small set up with lamps to match their latest album cover which is a picture of a living room. The band would also interact with the crowd by talking to the merch table, singing happy birthday to a fan, and talking about the cold weather that fans had to wait in.

Their setlist had a good combination of songs from all 3 of their albums as opposed to just the newest album, which I enjoyed as this was my first time seeing them live.

The opener Deb Never was also an incredibly gifted singer whose music I had never heard before, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to. She had a great stage presence and interactions with the crowd. I did not get the chance to meet her after the show where she was hanging out near the merch table, however, I did receive a postcard as I was leaving.

I would definitely recommend catching Wallows on their next tour.
