New Music Friday - Atlantic City

Atlantic City - Grayson Russell (ft. Zach Gordon)

A few days ago the iconic duo announced their newest collaboration with the upcoming release of their cover of Atlantic City. You may know them from the movie series Diary of a Wimpy Kid as Greg Heffley and Fregley. Since then they have become impressive musicians releasing the songs “Time Bomb” and “Beneath the Bow”. Their first song together is a classic Bruce Springsteen tune. After impatiently waiting a few days for the release after hearing the short snippet, the song was even better than I could have expected, which is hard to imagine due to my immediate obsession. The pair take on the folk-rock track with a modern upbeat spin 100x better than the original (sorry Bruce), possibly attributed to the blend of Grayson’s southern accent and Zach’s voice creating a memorizing harmony. In addition to the incredible electric guitar riffs and drums compared to the original’s acoustic guitar and harmonica.

I would not be surprised if Atlantic City ended up in my Top 5 songs of 2025.

Give it a listen if you’re looking for the latest approach to a classic by some friendly new voices, I guarantee you will be just as hooked as I am.
